If you're planning to travel on HWY 64 to the Outer Banks, take note-- the Alligator River Bridge will be closing next Wed., March 14, and will remain closed for one week! You'll definitely want to plan an alternate route ahead of time, as you'll spend a LONG time rerouting if you come that way. During the closure, crews will complete the electrical and mechanical swing span repairs that were started during the previous bridge closure Jan. 10-17.
