When you are buying a home or even just coming down to visit the beautiful Outer Banks there is usually a familiar thought that comes with both of those things. What are some things to do? and What are some things to see? In this blog post we will be discussing some of my personal favorite state parks and recreational parks in my area. At the end of each topic I will place a googles map link of each location.
Jockeys Ridge State Park- Lets start this blog off by talking about MY personal favorite state park in the area. Jockeys Ridge is made up of almost 30 million tons of sand making for the tallest living natural sand dune in the Eastern United States. Known for its admirable display at sunrise/sunset, Jockeys Ridge is also known as one if not the best place for learning how to fly a kite here on the Outer Banks. With many events held at this very park through out the year for the family makes it a pretty easy place to fall in love with. https://goo.gl/maps/rY3AdFveLJw
2. Wright Brother National Memorial- If you are a 'all about history' kind of person as I am you will thoroughly enjoy this park as much as myself and many others do. This park gets its name from the Wrights brothers, Orville and Wilbur. The two brothers are known for inventing, building, and flying the world's first successful airplane. When you come and visit this park you are first greeted by a giant 60 foot monument that sits in the center of the park. Once you successfully reach the top of this hill you are not only greeted by the beauty of the monument itself, you are also greeted with amazing views of the Outer Banks and its beaches. To the left of the monument and at the bottom of the hill you can experience a life size representation of the brothers themselves setting up for flight. With only a few features described in this blog with what you may experience while visiting the Monument I hope it has made you want to go experience the history for yourself first hand. https://goo.gl/maps/jspDUkhYJpJ2
3. First Flight Adventure Park- This section of the blog goes out to my adrenaline junkies. If you're looking for a park to not only test your adventurous side but your physical side, this is the park for you. This park is themed around the many tropical depressions and hurricanes we receive here on the Outer Banks. For example if you're wanting to play it safe there is a zone called the "tropical storm" zone. But, if you're feeling edgy the higher you continue to go up the tower the stronger the storm becomes(the harder the obstacles become) going all the way up to a Category 5 Hurricane. At the end of each course you are greeted by a zip line that takes you back to the central tower. Not to be concerned with the theme of this park each guest and party will be accustomed with a guide willing to help you throughout the climb. The climb typically takes each guest around two hours to complete and once you're done you will see the calm after the storm.
YOU DID IT and now you get to brag to all of your friends and family.

When you're thinking of buying a home here on the Outer Banks the pros are endless. These parks are just a few reasons why you should make the jump. Next week we will be heading in a different direction with this blog discussing "How to buy a home in your twenties". See you there.
